Homecoming brought a full house, energy buzzing through the stands, and the Bears came out with intent. Early drives showed glimpses of what this offense can be: physical runs, creative screens, and moments where the passing game nearly broke open. But finishing drives proved to be the challenge. The Bears moved the ball in spurts yet couldn’t punch it in when they needed to, stalling out against a LaSalle defense that tightened at every critical moment.

The Block Bears lost their homecoming and district game to a tough LaSalle Tiger team from neighboring LaSalle Parish, but the loss did not diminish the spurts of highlights that the team possesses.

Junior quarterback Bryan Bowie was one of the bright spots. He made plays with his legs, extended broken plays, and flashed his cannon of an arm. The deep shots were there just inches off from becoming momentumchanging completions. Screens and quick passes kept the offense moving, with solid gains from: Atkins Dominique, who was shifty and reliable out of the backfield. Michael Freeman had tough yards after contact, and Javorian Johnson had steady hands on the perimeter. Aiden Long also had strong contributions in the short passing game.

But the Bears’ biggest spark came from their senior playmaker. The moment that electrified the homecoming crowd came when senior athlete Marquise Bullitts took off on an 80-yard touchdown run, exploding through the defense and outracing everyone to the end zone. Bowie followed it with a scrambling twopoint conversion, cutting into LaSalle’s lead and giving the Bears a surge of momentum. It was the kind of play that reminds everyone how dangerous this team can be when its athletes get space.

Despite the flashes, LaSalle controlled the game from start to finish, and the Bears couldn’t sustain drives long enough to keep pace. The final score 32–8 stings, especially on homecoming night, but it doesn’t erase the effort or the glimpses of potential.

Friday night brings a more favorable matchup as Block takes on Acadiana Christian at home in Jonesville, a game that offers a real opportunity to reset, regroup, and build momentum for a strong finish to the season.

The Bears have talent. They have athletes. And they have fight. Now they need to turn those flashes into four quarters of execution. Homecoming didn’t go the way they hoped — but the season isn’t over.
