TIGERS PLAY ‘LIGHTS OUT’ Spoil Block’s homecoming 32-8 – District title against Delta Charter Friday

When the LaSalle Tigers and Block Bears kicked off Saturday night, only half of the stadium’s lights were working: the ones shining down on LaSalle’s side of the field. It turned out to be a fitting preview. The Tigers played lights out on the Bears homecoming night.

LaSalle opened district play with a 32–8 statement win, dominating every phase of the game and showing why the Tigers are surging at the right time.

LaSalle didn’t wait long to shine. Brayden Tannehill broke loose for a 30-yard touchdown run, then powered in the two-point conversion for an 8–0 lead. The Tigers’ defense, outstanding in recent weeks, quickly forced a turnover on downs and handed the ball right back to the offense.

Senior Wyatt King took over from there. He ripped off a 20-yard run, dragging defenders to the 1-yard line, then punched it in on the next play to make it 14–0.

Both defenses tightened for a stretch, but LaSalle wasn’t finished. Quarterback Luke Lasiter delivered one of the prettiest throws of the night, a deep ball to Kasen Maxwell, who kept his feet in bounds along the sideline to set the Tigers up inside the 5. King finished the drive, powering through the Bears’ front line for a 20–0 halftime lead.

The third quarter looked a lot like the first half. King kept bulldozing through the Block defense, adding his third touchdown to push the lead to 26–0. La-Salle’s special teams were just as sharp, led by Jonathan Wilhite, who sent kickoffs into the end zone nearly every time and covered well when they didn’t.

The game was slowed in the second half by several stoppages, including the ejection of a Block player and coach. The Tigers kept their composure throughout, a smart move with the LHSAA taking a hard line on fighting after incidents involving other teams around the state this season.

LaSalle added one more score for good measure: a 20-yard touchdown pass from Lasiter to Maxwell, who again showed off reliable hands and crisp route running. That made it 32–0 and let the Tigers empty the bench. Block scored a late touchdown against the reserves to make the final 32–8.

Next up is the game everyone has circled. LaSalle travels to Ferriday to face Delta Charter in a matchup that will likely decide the district championship. The Tigers bring a three-game winning streak and climbing power-ranking momentum into the showdown. It’s the biggest game of the year, it’s on the road, and it’s for control of the district.

Tiger fans, pack the stands and line the sidelines like you always do, and be ready to get loud for this young team in a season- defining game. Go
